A little funny story

So me and my friends were eating at Sheri’s the other day, when we see another one of my friends pass by the window. Apparently he’s going to eat at Sheri’s as well. So what’s the best way to greet an old friend?

That’s right, freak them out.

So me and my friend came up with a plan to walk up to my other friends’ table, using a menu to cover our faces, then say the following phrases:

My friend would start by saying: “Would you like some Tangerines?”

Then I would say  “Or maybe some…”

and then together “Panda Squad!?”

Tangerines and Panda Squad is an inside joke. Anyway, after some laughter, we recompose ourselves and set our plan in motion. My friend picks up his menu, covers his face, and walks around a support beam. I follow him, with a menu in front of my face. So I’m blindly following my friend, who is also pretty blind, and we walk up to his table. I thought it was strange to stop, because I thought he was actually at a different table, but I start to recite my lines. My friend with the menu murmurs something to me, and I put my menu down.

I immediately saw a bunch of incredibly freaked out girls. My friend is a guy. We just walked up to a random table, with menus in front of our faces, and started reciting crazy things at them. I could understand why they were looking at us like we were the girl from the exorcist.

If we spent time to apologize to these freaked out people, we would lose our chance, so we automatically put our menus up in front of us again and keep walking. Then my friend with the menu walked right past my other friend.

Eventually we just tapped my other friend on the shoulder. We also apologized to the table with the girls we freaked out.

Little stories like these are the ones I’ll think of when I think of my college experience.
